Labs use dry ice for short-term frozen storage, sample transport and rapid cooling. Rice sublimates faster and fits around small tubes; pellets last longer.
1/8" rice packs tightly around small vials; 5/8" pellets are a longer-lasting general choice.
Use in ventilated areas, never in sealed containers, and follow your lab's safety program.
Dry ice releases carbon dioxide gas and requires proper ventilation. Handle only with insulated gloves, and never seal it in an airtight container.
