The cold chain is the unbroken sequence of temperature-controlled storage and transport that keeps a product within its required range from origin to destination.
Dry ice provides deep-frozen conditions without electricity, which is useful for shipping and backup.
Hand-offs, delays and packaging errors are where cold chains usually fail. Plan for delays with buffer ice.
Dry ice releases carbon dioxide gas and requires proper ventilation. Handle only with insulated gloves, and never seal it in an airtight container.
