Five practical tips
1) Buy as close to use time as possible. 2) Pre-chill the cooler. 3) Fill air gaps with towels or crumpled paper. 4) Keep the container in shade or a cool spot. 5) Limit how often the lid is opened.
Layering
Placing dry ice on top of frozen goods works well because cold air sinks. Wrap the ice in paper to slow sublimation slightly.
Dry ice releases carbon dioxide gas and requires proper ventilation. Handle only with insulated gloves, and never seal it in an airtight container.
