How to Keep Food Frozen With Dry Ice

Pack frozen food tightly in an insulated cooler, place dry ice on top (cold sinks), fill empty space, and keep the lid closed but not sealed.

Packing order

Frozen goods on the bottom, a layer of cardboard or paper, dry ice on top. Fill gaps with towels or crumpled paper.

Food contact

Don't let dry ice touch food you plan to eat without a barrier, and never eat or swallow dry ice.

Dry ice releases carbon dioxide gas and requires proper ventilation. Handle only with insulated gloves, and never seal it in an airtight container.
